Critical dynamics of the Nambu-Jona-Lasinio model, coupled to constant electromagnetic fields in D = 2, 3 and 4, is reinvestigated with emphasis on the infrared behavior of the effective potential. The result confirms a previous observation, interpreted as "dimensional reduction, D → D - 2", that the critical coupling goes to zero even under an infinitesimal magnetic field. Although the full effective potential is obtained nonperturbatively, a perturbation with respect to external fields up to the first few terms is utilized. The resultant asymptotic expansion, however, matches excellently with the exact value (especially in the pure magnetic case).
