Recently, new types of membrane modules have been under development, esspecially beeing applied to water and wastewater treatment. This paper summarizes the outlines of their development as well as the background and the needs for technological inovation in the field of Water Environment Management and Technology. Directions of new membrane module development are also discussed and present status of full-scale application of new modules are reviewed.
