The main aim of this paper is to assert that listening to and speaking of one's native language is nearer to perpendicular biped walking than to reading and writing of one's native language. And another aim is an attempt to plain reasons for critical periods to exist in the case of listening to and speaking of one's native language as well as perpendicular biped walking, not reading and writing of one's native language, from the viewpoint of the distinction between the primary linguistic ability and the secondary linguistic ability in the sense of Palmer(1921).
