In an aluminium plate，s tressed by cyclic tensi1e and compressive loading，various types of s1ip bands were observed on the surface of the specimen.And then the followings were obtained :1) Grain boundary lines appear at an early stage of the fatigue process，and they are much different from those by static loading.2) Various patterns of s1ip bands and 1ines appear，and they are c1assifiedin four types: X1 of wide straight slip bands in parallel，X2 of wave-1ike slip1ines somewhat in parallel， X3 of fine nets of s1ip 1ines， and X4 of 1itt1edeformation.3) Several characteristics of the patterns are discussed such that X1 andX2 are somewhat simi1ar in shape， but much different in several features，and that X1 and X3 appear in the same grain but other combinations do notoccur.
