高脂血症ラットに対する海藻粉末の予防効果(I)

概要

We prepared dry micro-powders of Kombu (Laminaria japonica) and Wakame (Undaria pinnatifida)seaweeds, and examined their effect on blood lipid level in rat. These powders were respectively mixed into a high fat diet at a density of 5% and orally given to rats. To control rats, only the high fat diet was given. When we have treated the rats for 7 weeks, the blood neutral fat level increased up to 35.0 mg/dl and 39.2 mg/dl in the control group and in the Wakame group, respectively. Making a sharp contrast with those, the blood neutral fat level of the Kombu diet group decreased down to 17.4 mg/dl (p<0.01). On the other hand, total cholesteroland HDL-cholesterol levels did not differ among three groups. In confirmatory experiments using 75% high fat diet (25% less fat content than the high fat diet), the results were basically the same. It is expected that the Kombu powder would have the preventive effect on clinical hyperlipidemia.
