A marked specific heat anomaly has been observed for wellprepared samples of the mixed system Sn1-xCrxTe attemperatures corresponding to the Curie point of CrTe.The anomaly is associated with very fine ferromagneticparticles, but it is far from being accounted for by theentropy change due to effective spins. It is necessary tosuppose some sort of interactions between the particlesand the host crystal;the interactions must be of a sort bywhich the total electronic energy of the interactingsystem is appreciably lowered, but with the total magneticmoment unchanged.
