The deformation of materials at the compression is simulated byusing two dimensional single crystal model, and the following arereported. 1) The square p1ane lattice of steel ball is compressedat one edge. In order to study the deformation of materials withdifferent ductilities,the individual contact between adjacentballs are filled with liquid paraffin and so on. Some techniquesin experiment and those in analysis of observed results are discussed.2) Inspecting the distribution of local flatness andlocal strain,the domain initially deformed is magnified with theincrease of compression. 3) The minimum point in the distributionof local density is produced frequently in the neighbourfood ofthe central section of the ball lattice,while the maximum pointis near both ends. 4) Poisson's Ratio is much larger than thevalue of the actual materials at the compression of 3~7% ,anddecreases with the increase of compression. Finally the ratiotend to the usual values common to the ordinary materials at thecompression of 15~9%.
