Concerning the poems by Shiga-no-Ama in vol.16 of the Manyosyu, the note on Amagasaki Manuscript indicates the different arrangement from other manuscripts. When we think over the composition of the ten poems by Shiga-no-Ama, it is essential to understand the correct meaning of this note. Each professor has his own understanding of the aforementioned note, but a specific meaing has not yet been established. The note is written above the third of the ten poems, and it says "Aru-hon ige san-syu ue ni ari (An manuscript says that the following three poems shoud be placed before)." Prof.Yukichi Takeda interpreted the note as an indication that the third, fourth and fifth poems should be first. Then Prof. Hisataka Omodaka noticed a mark connecting two points from the third to before the seventh poems. It means a transposition of part of a poem, therefore, he thought the note meant that the fourth, fifth, sixth poems shoud be placed just before the third. In this thesis, I focused the word "Ige(following)". It has two meanings: one including the third poem and one omitting it. I looked into examples of "Ige" in Ruijukosyu and Amagasaki Manuscript, and came to conclusion that the Prof. Omodaka's opinion was correct. I considered the composition of the poems and how the two different arrangements came to exist in the Amagasaki Manuscript and the other.
