• Creep deformation of spinel was investigated by creep testing at 1300℃, 1350℃ and 1400℃. At lower stresses, creep deformation is diffusion-controlled with the stress exponent n ≈ 1,and at higher stresses, intergranular cavitations were observed with higher values of n. Strain rates of spinel were about ten times as low as those of alumina under the same conditions. Hence the spinel had considerable resistance for creep deformation.
