Ferromagnetic glass-ceramics are expected to be useful as thermoseeds for hyperthermia of cancer, since hysteresis heating occurs when they are subjected to an alternating magnetic field. In the present work, glass-ceramics containg Fe_<3-X>Zn_XO_4 in a matrix of β-CaSiO_3 crystal and glassy phase were obtained by a heat treatment of 5.1ZnO, 16.6Fe_2O_3,39.2CaO, 39.2SiO_2 (mol%) glass at 1150℃ in 95CO_2+5H_2 atmosphere. The glass-ceramic showed ferromagnetism with a saturation magnetization of 38 emu・g^<-1> and a coercive force of 63 Oe.
