We have found that rapidly quenched oxides in Zn-Fe-O system with compositions almost identical to ZnFe_2O_4 show high magnetization even at room temperature. We have carried out X-ray diffraction, Zn K-edge EXAFS, Mossbauer spectroscopy and magnetization measurements to clarify origins for this high magnetization. On the basis of the experimental results, we conclude that the high magnetization is brought about by iron ion clusters accompanied with six-coordinated Zn^<2+> ions as well as dissolution of Fe_3O_4 in ZnFe_2O_4.
