We investigated the preparation, and optical and electric properties of supramolecular assemblies fabricated from four alkyl chains having porphyrin. The supramolecular assemblies formed branched, sheet-shaped, or flower-shaped structures. The obtained ultraviolet–visible (UV–vis) absorption, fluorescence, and Fourier transform infrared (FT-IR) spectra indicated that the detailed structures of supramolecular assemblies showed $J$-aggregation. The current–voltage ($I$–$V$) measurements of these supramolecular assemblies bridging between gap electrodes were performed. Current was increased by light irradiation, and photoresponse processes for these devices were observed reproducibly.
