We proposed that the surface potential (SP) is switchable by the irradiation of monochromatic visible light in a thin film of Au-diffused p-sexiphenyl (6P). The direction of the SP shift was dependent on the wavelength. A positive SP shift of ca. +0.12 V was observed with the irradiation at a wavelength of 400 nm, while a negative shift of ca. $-0.12$ V was observed with the irradiation at a wavelength of 500 nm. The mechanism of the potential shift was discussed in terms of the photoinduced charge transfer at the interface between 6P and Au. This phenomenon can be applied to the surface potential switching of organic thin films by visible light.
