For the purpose of manipulating interactions in the two-quantum-bit exciton quantum logic gate, we have fabricated electric-field-controlled coupled quantum dot (CQD) devices, and measured the controllability of exciton states by an external electric field in a weakly coupling system. In photoluminescence spectra of the CQD device, two peaks were observed, which were correlatively changed in intensity as the electric field was varied. In addition, this corrective change in intensity was observed in photoluminescence excitation spectra. These observations originated from the exciton–exciton interaction, namely, the dipole–dipole coupling between the excitons confined in the quantum dots.
