V2O5 thin films were prepared by pulsed laser deposition (PLD). Ag-doped V2O5 thin films were prepared by the reaction between V2O5 thin films and 1 M AgNO3 solution for 3 min. Photochromism and photoelectrochromism in V2O5 and Ag-doped V2O5 thin films were investigated. Absorption spectra measurement results show that V2O5 and Ag-doped V2O5 thin films are colored by ultraviolet light irradiation and bleached by visible light irradiation. Furthermore, we can conclude that the response of Ag-doped V2O5 thin films to ultraviolet light irradiation is rapid. Photoluminescence (PL) measurements show that the photochromic system of Ag-doped V2O5 thin films is by the photooxidation of Ag to Ag+. In the bleaching process by electrochemical method, the response of Ag-doped V2O5 thin films was better than that of V2O5 thin films.
