The thermal parameter $k$ of Ebbini's model (i.e., expressed by the temperature coefficients of ultrasound speed and volume change) for temperature measurement is experimentally investigated using a fresh calf liver specimen in vitro. It is found that $k$ is spatially inhomogeneous and dependent on temperature and thermal exposure time. It is also clarified that it is difficult to accurately measure a large temperature change and a high temperature using Ebbini's model. To enable the planning of thermal treatment, we need to evaluate temperature distribution and reconstruct tissue thermal conductivity, capacity and diffusivity by updating $k$ or spatial mean $k$ using temperature references (thermocouples).
