For the finite-amplitude $B/A$ measurement, an acoustic window to separate the sample from the water coupler is often necessary, which disturbs indispensable measurements for determining linear acoustic properties. The measurements for determining linear acoustic properties in such cases are experimentally investigated. After providing a tungsten rod reflector located near the focus of a focused Gaussian beam, a sample container used to hold a 1-mm-thick sample layer is set at the end. A polymer film is employed as a window material. The transmission property of the acoustic window is estimated with the reflections from the window of the container filled with water at two frequencies of 18.6 and 37.2 MHz. Taking into account this film property, the specific acoustic impedance of the sample is estimated with the reflection from the window of the container filled with the sample. The sound speed and attenuation coefficient are also estimated using conventional methods modified for the present instrumental arrangement. The validity of the present method is demonstrated through the measurement of samples with known properties.
