A withdrawal-weighted filter is optimized using a positional sequence, which is devised for restricting a bandwidth, instead of the conventional 0-1 sequence. The sequence, which shows the positions of active finger pairs, is used for the variables of simulated annealing. The method yields a maximum sidelobe level of -55.9 dB and a relative 3 dB bandwidth of 0.508 ±0.003%. The calculated results show that the method is effective for nonlinear optimization of withdrawal-weighted filters whose constraints of bandwidths are strict.
