The assignment of boron not contributing to conductivity in boron-doped diamond to boron–hydrogen complex is reexamined using a new 11B two-dimensional NMR technique, which is developed to detect 1H–11B dipolar broadening. It is shown that the amount of boron–hydrogen complex is not substantial and the previous assignment is thus less plausible. Possible mechanisms of linebroadening are discussed.
