The spike timing-dependent plasticity (STDP) at the synapse between the layer II of medial entorhinal cortex (EC) and between the layer V of medial EC, and at the synapse between the medial perforant path and the granule cells of dentate gyrus (DG) in hippocampus are studied. The STDP function in medial ECII was asymmetry and that in DG was symmetry. Medial EC mainly processes the time-series signal on the spatial information, and the dentate gyrus receives the information on the object and the space. In the last part, we will propose a time-series memory system depending on the recurrent neuronal network of entorhinal cortex and hippocampus.
