The spherical particles of Mn-Co carbonate were prepared by an interfacial reaction method, in which the carbonate was formed by the reaction of MnSO4 and CoSO4 aqueous solution emulsified in benzene with NaHCO3 aqueous solution. The particle size distribution, DTA-TG curves, X-ray diffraction patterns, specific surface area, and pore volume were measured to clarify the properties of the spherical particles.<BR>It was investigated that the Mn-Co carbonate spherical particles were formed by the interfacial reaction method as a solid solution of MnCO3 and CoCO3. The particles were composed of microcrystals of MnCO3 and CoCO3 and possessed porous structure. Specific surface area of them increased with the increase of Co content. By a heat treatment, the particle shape did not change and the particle size changed very slightly.
