Acetoxy derivatives of bislactone fluorans were synthesized by the condensation of 2- (4-dialkylamino-2-hydroxybenzoyl) benzoic acids with fluorans in acetic anhydride. The acetoxy derivatives of bislactone fluorans were hydrolyzed in 5% NaOH to give hydroxy derivatives of bislactone. On the other hand the hydroxy derivatives of the bislactone were synthesized also by the condensation in 80%H2SO4. Trimethylsiloxy derivatives or benzoyloxy derivatives of the bislactone were prepared by the reaction of the hydroxy derivatives with hexamethyldisilazane in THF or benzoyl chloride in pyridine. The visible absorption spectra of these bislactone derivatives in HC1 (1 mol/L) -methanol (1 : 1) or NaOH (0.1mol/L) -methanol (1 : 1) were investigated. The λmax of bislactone derivatives in acid were the same as that of starting material of fluoran. But the λmax of bislactone derivatives in base were different from that of starting material of fluoran in base. The coloring forms were discussed from visible absorption spectra.
