Titanium chelates with the ligands of 2-hydroxy-N- (5-chloro-2-hydroxy-benzylidene) anilines were synthesized and their properties were investigated.<BR>The titanium chelates had brown or black colors. Thermal stability of the titanium chelates were increased by the introduction of methyl and nitro groups into the aromatic ring, but decreased by chloro and phenyl groups. Most of titanium chelates had very high decomposition temperatures above 400°C. Solubility of titanium chelates were increased by the introduction of a phenyl group or naphthalene ring into the ligand.
