An anodic oxide film of aluminum was anodic-electrolyzed in a tetraethoxysilane solution with an organic dye. As a result, the clear colored film was obtained by electrolysis at the electrolytic voltage ranging from 16 to 20 V. The heat-treated film had a superior resistance to light. It was considered that the organic dye which was embedded into the three-demensional networks of silica was deposited in the micropores of the film.
