In order to predict the production rate of a three-roll mill, the total flux through the nip, q and flux ratio, qf/qS, for pseudoplastic fluids (CMC solutions) and suspensions (pigment : chalk, asbestos) were investigated in a two-roll system.<BR>For pseudoplastic fluids, q is given by q=λumh0 where um is averaged roll speed and ho is clearance. Proportional constant was larger than that of Newtonian fluid and increased with flow index (power law model) decreased. Flux ratio decreased with flow index decreased and simple correlation as Newtonian fluid could not be found for pseudoplastic fluids and suspensions.
