For the polyvinyl chloride coatings, long period durability may be a very important property.
This paper describes the factors which influence on photo-degradation of pigmented polyvinyl chloride.
Twenty pigments of different colors and formula were tested on the effects of photodegradation by using weather-meter and outdoor exposure.
Pigments in similar color (hue) such as Cinquasia Red and Watchung Red shows non-characteristic ultraviolet ray absorption.
Most affecting factors was considered particularly chemical formula and impurity of each pigments.
Cobalt Blue, Bordeaux 10 B, Mineral Violet and Lake pigments accelerated photo-degradation of polyvinyl chloride.
