The experiments were carried out for the purpose of investigating influences of monomers and solvents upon the ultra-violet and visible region spectra in chromogen-bonded-polymers obtained by the use of tetra (4) diazo copper phthalocyanine or dodeca-bromo tetra (4) diazo copper phthalocyanine as an initiator.<BR>As compared with ordinary copper phthalocyanine-blue pigment, all absorption spectra of the chromogen-bonded-polymers in sulfuric acid solution shifted toward longer region. This fact suggests the polymer chain to bond with the copper-phthalocyanine. In order to explain the effects of monomers effecting to the chromogen-bonded-polymers, the spectra of various oleophilic and hydrophilic chromogen-bonded-polymers, obtained from various kinds of monomers were measured in sulfuric acid and water or dimethyl-formamide as solvents. All fo them slightly changed in the same solvent except the case of styrene in which the spectrum shifted toward longer region then others. This fact suggests that copper phthalocyanine group bonds to the benzene ring in the styrene at para-position, and this is similarly understood from that ordinary copper phthalocyanine pigment becomes more greenish by the substitution of phenyl group at phthalocyanine ring.<BR>Also, in order to explain the difference of the absorption spectra between oleophilic chromogen-bonded-polymer in organic solvents and hydrophilic one in water the author measured absorption spectrum of the chromogen-bonded-polymer obtained from acrylic acid, which is soluble in both water and organic solvents. As a result it showed the same absorption spectra in organic solvents, cyclohexanone, dioxane and methylcellosolve etc, but shifted toward shorter region in alcohol, and the spectrum in water shifted more toward shorter region that in alcohol.<BR>It was made clear that the difference between oleophilic chromogen-bonded-polymer in dimethylformamide solution and hydrophilic one in acinous solution depends upon the effects of solvents used.<BR>The greenish chromogen-bonded-polymer obtained from dodeca-bromo tetra (4) diazo copper phthalocyanine as an initiator could be used as coloring matter similarly to ordinary copper phthalocyanine green pigment.
