The lanthanide oxide phosphor (Y2O3: Eu3+) was confined into the pores of porous glass substrate by means of MOCVD method using lanthanide organic complexes. The phosphor in the porous glass was crystallized under higher temperature in air and the porous glass retained good transparency. The resulting porous glass plate showed two times larger luminescent intensity compared with bulk Y2O3: Eu3+ (5 wt%) crystal prepared by solid state reaction under the irradiation of UV light (254 nm).
