Tiny bubbles show very complicate interesting behaviors in the liquid. They are effectively utilized toenhance the mass transfer in the water purification systems, chemical reactors etc. In these systems, smallamounts of surfactant can drastically change bubble behaviors. For example, bubbles in aqueous surfactantsolution are not easy to have coalescence and each bubble rises much slower than one in purified water. Theseeffects to individual bubbles cause a drastic change of entire bubbly flow structures and influence theperformance of devises. In this talk, related to these interesting multiscale structures, bubble clusteringphenomena in upward bubbly channel flows are discussed. In addition, tiny bubbles have been already usedas a contrast agent for ultrasound diagnosis. These bubbles are also expected to be used for the ultrasoundtherapy to enhance the ablation of tumor or to be used as drag delivery agent. Our recent studies related tothese medical applications are also introduced in the present talk.
