We describe the system of tracking a moving object and depth estimation by using smart image sensors with binocular PD array. In this system, we use only 1 bit flag signals that indicate the address information of the moving area to extract a moving object. When variations of the pixel value exceed the threshold, 1 bit flag signals are out. Then, the size and the center position of the moving object are estimated by using the 1bit flag signals. Parallax is obtained by the center position of the moving object on each camera. And the depth between the sensor and the object is estimated by the parallax. We have designed and fabricated the prototype chip for this system. In order to share the processing circuits among the pixels in a column, it makes use of a column parallel architecture. There are roughly three processes in the sensor: generating 1bit flag signals, extraction of a moving object and depth estimation. Now, we are testing the prototype chip.
