THA術後の合併症である脱臼は，術前に十分な評価と指導を行うことで発生頻度を大きく減少することができる。本症例は術前の動作変更が困難であり，整形外科医の理解の下でカップの設置を標準から大きく変更することで，術前に比べ大きく動作レベルが向上した例である。整形外科医の理解を得るためには，関節だけに注目するのではなく症例を全人間的に評価した上で，何が一番患者にとって有益であるのかを説明できなくてはいけない。
