To elucidate the rearing method for improving initial swim bladder inflation success of greater amberjack larvae in the seed production tank, we examined the timing of initial swim bladder inflation in tanks under different water temperature (22, 24 and 26°C) and light conditions (24L: 0D and 14L: 10D). After mouth opening, larvae inflated their swim bladders for 0.5-1.5 days except for tanks at 22°C. In 24L: 0D tanks, proportion of larvae with inflated swim bladders increased during the nighttime. Consequently, initial swim bladder inflation success could be improved in tanks controlled at 24°C < under the continuous light condition.
