A Study of Business Evaluation on Facility Care for the Elderly in Long-term Care Insurance System

In this paper, some important focal points for business evaluation of specific facility care for the elderly (Tokutei-Shisestu) in Japanese long-term care are overviewed and addressed. With the number of new entrants into the facility care market in long-term care increasing, the needs and importance for evaluation in light of business potentiality and profitability are also increasing due to the strong money demand for this investment. First, the main reason for rising strong demand for money is explained in connection with the service characteristics of facility care business. And following this, the risk factors that can affect business profits are divided into two parts, the risk of sales decreasing and that of cost increasing. Moreover, the risk of sales decreasing is divided into the risk of quant and that of price, and each characteristic is examined. In this context, it is also suggested that quant and price have a strong correlation, thus careful examination of this inter-dependent relationship is required.
