The dissolution property of poorly water-soluble drug, flurbiprofen, was improved by using dry coating method with tri-component mixture containing starches as core-particles. The mixtures composed of water-soluble additives (lactose, hydroxypropyl cellulose), or light anhydrous silicic acid and flurbiprofen were prepared. These mixtures and corn starch were co-ground in a planetary ball mill and surface of the starch were dry-coated by the mixtures. Appearance, yield, dispersibility in water, crystallinity and drug dissolution property of the coated samples were evaluated and the optimal formulation which improved the dissolution property of poorly water-soluble flurbiprofen was determined.
