• We compared the resprouting ability among some mangrove species in southeastern Asia. Almost all sample stumps oflvicennia alba,Avicennia marina, Excoecarin-agallocha, Sonneratia albaAvicennia officinalis, Xylocarpus tnorccensis, Xylocarpus granotum resprouted after cutting. But, Bruguiera gymnorrhiza, Bruguiera cylindrica, Rhizophora apiculata,-Ceriops tagal, Bruguiera parviflora and Ceriops decandra, all of which are Rhizophoiaceae species, scarcely respiouted vegetative shoots after cutting. Many species of Rizophoraceae seem to be difficult to sprout vegetativeshoots from stumps after cutting. It is important for sustainable use of forest resources to adopt the selective cutting technique in mangrove forest areas in southeastern Asia.
