Electrical Properties of La3+-Doped (Na0.5Bi0.5)0.94Ba0.06TiO3 Ceramics

(1−<I>x</I>)(Na<SUB>1⁄2</SUB>Bi<SUB>1⁄2</SUB>)TiO<SUB>3</SUB>–<I>x</I>BaTiO<SUB>3</SUB> (<I>x</I>=0.06) with 0–5 at.% lanthanum was prepared by the conventional mixed oxide method. The effect of La<SUP>3+</SUP> doping on dielectric and piezoelectric properties of the ceramics was studied. The ceramics' relaxor behavior is more distinct after La<SUP>3+</SUP> doping. At room temperature, the dielectric constant is increased. When the La content is less than 1.5 at.%, the piezoelectric properties are enhanced. Meanwhile the dielectric loss of the ceramics is also increased. When the content of La<SUP>3+</SUP> is higher than 1.5 at.%, the ceramics' piezoelectric properties are considerably degraded.
