気管切開術中の電気メス使用による気管熱傷および気管狭窄症例を経験した。63歳男性の中咽頭癌患者に対して気管切開を全身麻酔下に施行した。高酸素濃度下での気管切開中，電気メス使用により気管挿管チューブが発火した。気管と皮膚にII度からIII度の熱傷を生じ，その後気管狭窄をきたした。気道熱傷後7カ月で瘢痕切除と先端ドーム型のTチューブで修復した。気管切開中高濃度酸素条件下では電気メスは使用すべきではない。気管切開中のサージカルファイアの危険性について外科医の注意を喚起した。
