In order to obtain a clinical picture of lumbago treatment the Youth Division of the Tokyo Acupuncture Association examined and organized over 800 former clinical reports on the subject. However none of the reports included all of the matters which should be basic to a research report. Thus in this study we'd like to point out problems in former clinical research and suggest a research method of high academic value.Problems in Former ResearchProblems in Former Research1. Lack of analysis of subject distribution2. Lack of subject classification3. Lack of description of method of determining cure4. Subject groups not established, etc.As for what clinical research should involve1. Establishment of a standard for judging the seriousness of disease2. Establishment of concrete method of standard classification and division of subjects3. Establishment of a standard for determining cure.4. Prescription for method of treatment and technique, etc.Presenting rough methods we shall bring forward questions concerning the above.
