This study attempts to increase the high-moisture-paddy adaptability of a head-feeding combine. We describe the effect of water-repellent processing in the oscillating separator to improve the selection performance when harvesting a high-moisture-paddy. Adopting water-repellent processing and a water-repellent resin in the oscillating separator enabled water-repellent processing to perform much better than conventional processing. Chaff loss when harvesting a high-moisturepaddy decreased and the selection performance improved. Moreover, durability tests on 8ha paddy fields revealed neither remarkable peeling nor wearing of water-repellent materials. Water-repellent processing in the oscillating separator was thus useful for increasing the high-moisturepaddy adaptability of a head-feeding combine.
