A prototype combine harvester with yield monitoring function was used to assess the basic performance requirements necessary for producing yield maps. The time-lags of the mass- and moisture measurement devices were both 15.0 seconds. The accuracy of the mass-measurement device was greatly improved by correcting the inclination measured with an inclination sensor installed near the load cell. Consequently, highly accurate calibration measurements were obtained for paddies and wheat (R≥0.99). In addition, the measurement of location was accurate to within 1m while harvesting. Yield and moisture maps were compiled after harvesting using data obtained from the prototype yield-monitoring combine harvester.
