Carbon fiber/ceramic composites (CFRC) were prepared from carbon fiber (CF) and organometallic compound (diphenylborosiloxane). The CF cloth laminates impregnated with diphenylborosiloxane containing SiC micropowder (4μm in size), were heated at 500°C in air, and reheated at 1000°C in N2.<BR>Then densification was carried out on the CF cloth laminates to increase thier density and strength. Thus prepared CFRC plates (2mm in thickness) showed a bulk density of 1.22g/cm3 and a bending strength of 43MPa. The bending strength (59MPa) of CFRC plate prepared with a high temperature hot press, was higher than 1.4 times than CFRC without it. The mechanical properties of CFRC were influenced by the temperature of pressure application.
