The results represent a study of the air pollution from electric arc furnace steel making factory. The suspended particulates are collected from three points on the leeward of the electric arc furnace by using Hi-Vol. air sampler for 24 hours' sampling. The values of 39 samples are as follows;-suspended particulates: 1.040mg/m3 (2.507-0.367), Zn: 212μg/m3 (530-42), Fe: 167μg/m3 (384-30), Pb: 34μg/m3 (117-5), Mn: 23μg/m3 (58-3), Cu: 1.9μg/m3 (5.4-0.4), Cr: 0.93μg/m3 (2.09-0.17) and Cd: 0.42μg/m3 (0.95-0.09). These values are averaged both three points and three month period.<BR>The chemical composition of suspended particulates are difference between polluted suspended particulates and unpolluted ones, that is, the concentration of heavy metals except iron in the particulates are ordinally below 1 %, but polluted samples are above 25%, This means even same amount of suspended particulates in the air, there isa great difference against human responce.<BR>Obviously, more heavy metals are deposit in the samples of the soils and plants from polluted area than their control. The deposit rate in the plants (Mugwort) are as follows:- Zn: 17. 1 times, Pb: 10.2 times, and Cd: 8.7 times. Among 54 people who live in lee side of electric arc furnance, three doubtful plumbism patients are found.
