Localized nerve fiber loss was found in the sural nerve of a streptozocin-induced diabetic monkey wihch died 26 months after the injection of streptozocin. The lesion was considered to be an infarct. The infarct focus was morphometrically analyzed and schematically reconstructed. Infarction has not been previously reported in the distal portions of the peripheral nerves of diabetic animals.
