Two cases of pustulosis palmaris et plantaris (PPP) due to dental metal allergy are presented. Ccse 1: A 57-year-old female had been treated for PPP since 1987. Patch tests and lymphocyte stimulation test (LST) confirmed that she was hypersensitive to nickel sulfate and palladium chloride. When she was first admitted to our hospital, only palladium, positive dental metal, was used for dental material according to electron probe micro analysis. After the removal of palladium, she had a new denture inserted, whose reinforcement wire included nickel by mistake. Six months later, the clinical symptom was not alleviated remarkably. As soon as we sealed the wire with resin, these eruptions disappeared. Case 2: A 32-year-old female had been treated for PPP since she had metal crowns inserted in 1988. Patch tests showed a positive reaction to copper sulfate and laboratory investigation showed a slight increase of eosinophils. After the removal of copper, which was followed by a temporary exacerbation of these eruptions, the clinical symptom and hematological disorders were alleviated remarkably.
