A total of 50 female patients of internal derangement of temporomandibular joint diagnosed by arthrogram (ID group), who visited Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery I, Tohoku University School of Dentistry, over a 4-year period from 1987 to 1991, were analyzed on the lateral cephalogram. And they were compared with the Japanese females' craniofacial drawing standard (CDS).
The following results were obtained.: In ID group,
1. Total mandibular length and ramus height were shorter than in CDS (p<0.01).
2. Occlusal plane angle to FH plane and ramus plane angle to FH plane were larger (p<0.01).
3. B depth and Pog depth were longer (p<0.01).
4. Palatal plane angle to FH plane was larger (p<0 01).
5. ANB was larger (p<0.01).
6. 1 angle to FH plane was smaller (p<0.01).
