A typical case of Treacher Collins syndrome of three years six months old boy was presented and its speech disorders was discussed.<BR>1. In speech findings, hypernasality and articulation disorders were observed as well as speech retardation.<BR>2. The patient had deafness, retardation of mental development and poor speech environment.<BR>3. The patient had lip closure dysfunction due to remarkable micrognathia, hypofunction of masticatory system and tongue movement, and incomplete nasopharyngeal closure caused by hypofunction of soft palate, pharyngeal wall and short palate.<BR>4. Instructing his mother, treatment for decayed teeth, wearing of speech aid, function training, and articulatory therapy were planned for his speech therapy.<BR>5. In the first medical examination, intelligibility of speech was indicated the forth degrees, but speech function had been improving, it was indicated the third degrees. However it was still difficult to improve bilabial articulation. In the future, keeping on speech therapy, it is desired to be performed the surgical correction of micrognathia.<BR>6. It was thought that his speech retardation was caused by deafness, retardation of men-tal development and poor speech environment. Furthermore it was thought that hypernasality and articulation disorders were caused by incomplete nasopharyngeal closure, hypofunction of the tongue movement and dysfunction of lip closure. However, it was also speculated that the etiology of articulation disorders participated deafness and retardation of mental deve-lopment.
