Clinical and statistical observation of the emergency patients at the department of Oral and Dental Surgery, Tokyo Women's Medical College.

We have investigated 2969 patients, who came to the emergency clinic of Oral and Dental Surgery of Tokyo Women's Medical College Hospital between 1979 and 1982.<BR>1) The number of patients tended to increase accoding to advanced years.<BR>2) The patients were 1592 males and 1377 females: the ratio was 1.2 and 1.0.<BR>3) The most of the patients ages were in the twenties (32.4%).<BR>4) The disease causes were dental and periodontal desease in 1404 (47.3%), trauma in 725 patients (24.4%), and inflammation in 512 patients (17.2%).<BR>5) 55.1% of the patients lived in Shinjuku-ku and 82.3% lived within ten kilometers of our hospital.<BR>6) The number of the patients who needed admission was 105 (3.5%).<BR>7) 159 patients (5.4%) came to our clinic by ambulance, of which 52 (32.8%) needed admission and the causes of 116 (72.9%) was trauma.
