The egg, larva and pupa of the asparagus beetle, Crioceris quatuordecimpunctata Scopoli were reared under constant temperatures of 18°, 21°, 24°, 27°, and 30°. The results are summarized as follows
1. Within the tested range of temperature, the durations of the developmental stages were shortened with the rise of temperature, and difference of the mortality during the full course of development at each temperatures was negligible.
2. A linear relation was observed between the developmental velocity and the temperature in each stage, and the developmental threshold and the total effective temperature were calculated at 10.0°C and 45 day-degrees, 10.0°C and 90 day-degrees, and 10.7°C and 141 day-degrees for the egg, larval and pupal stages respectively.
3. The larva molted three times during its development. The fourth instar was longest in duration, next in order were the first, the third and the second ones. Frequency distribution of the larval headwidths showed four peaks, which correspond to the instars and not overlapped with one another.
