Personal-Computer Program of the Epidemiological Control of Japanese Bovine Theileriosis in the Pasturage of Hokkaido

In 19 public pasturages under the direction of Iburi Livestock Hygiene Service Center in Hokkaido, about 4, 300 cattle have been grazed annually. The incidence of diseases of the grazing cattle was from 5.5 to 9.6 %, of which 9 to 26 % were Japanese bovine theileriosis. All animals had been treated with anti- Theileris drug at a time when the piroplasm (Theileria sergenti) was first confirmed during the pasturage, although the best timing for effective administration is still obscure. We developed a useful personal-computer program of the epidemiological control for the bovine theileriosis written in C language. This program is for multi analyse including 1) estimation of the best timing of adminsstration for anti- Theileria drug ; 2) expected incidence of infestation against the piroplasm and the hematocrit data from blood samples in the cattle ; 3) correlation map between the incidence of infestation and the hematocrit data from the cattle ; and 4) flow chart of an individual pattern of the results.
