The authors present a parallel phase-shifting digital holography as a digital imaging technique for recording and reconstruction of three-dimensional object. The technique is implemented by inserting a phase-shifting array device consisting of array of 2×2 phase-retarder array into the conventional optical system for digital holography using Fresnel transform alone. Both the computer simulation and the preliminary experiment have been conducted, so that the validity of the proposed technique has been verified. The technique is capable of noiseless instantaneous measurement of three-dimensional objects.
